Awesome Decal

5 Nov

Essentially a large sticker to apply to a nice plain white wall in the kitchen. I love it. All I need is a house of my own and a kitchen I can take control of!

Cowie… would Granny like one of these in her new bungalow?

Radiator Mug

5 Jan

Wow. I simply have to get my hands on one of these puppies. Awesome.

From Charles and Marie

“Ahhh, finally, is all we can say! We first met Stephen Reed at 100% Design in London last year where he sold the first prototype of his ingenious mug at the Super Design Mart, but it took 15 months to get it produced and it is perfect! Read on and see for yourself:

Anyone who has ever opened a PC or worked on an engine will see a resemblance to the fins that are used to cool specific parts that shouldn’t get to hot. Well, the same applies here. Those fins – called heat sinks if you really want to know – cover the entire base of the mug, this way you can hold it without burning your fingers. Pretty nifty if you ask us… But don’t be fooled by the temperature of your favorite beverage, whilst you may be able to hold the mug, it does not imply that it’s ready to be enjoyed.

Next to the fact that it is a very cool idea, it is also a very elegant and good looking one and at 3.5″ (9 cm) wide and 4.5″ (11,5 cm) high, impeccably proportioned…”

Scrunched up coffee cups

13 Jun

I have been trying to find a company that supplies these scrunched up coffee cups to the UK for almost a year now… and here they are. And they only cost about 4 quid each… brilliant.

Teacups that get better with age

13 Jun

These are my favourite tea cups. I bought Cowie and myself a pair for Valentine’s day but we haven’t dared use them yet… kind of defeats the point really.

Here’s what the fantastic designer Laura Bethan Wood has to say about her epic cups:

“Stain is a set of a teacups designed to improve through use. This project examines the assumption that use is damaging to a product (For example, scratches on an iPod).

The interior surface of the cup is treated so as to stain more in predetermined places. The more the cups are used, the more the pattern is revealed. Over time they will build up an individual pattern dependent on the users personal way of drinking tea.

Available for £35, please email me for more information and wholesale prices.”

Blends for Friends

28 Apr

I’m blogging whilst tucking into my personalised tea and thought it might be worth a mention. It’s amazing. For 27 quid you get a brilliant personalised blend of tea from Alex Probyn who used to work at Tetley. I met him at the Good Food Show having heard about his business in Olive Magazine back in September. Actually it was in the same edition as the article about the Tree House as it happens.

Anyway. My tea is amazing and makes life better!

So visit Blends For Friends and get involved.

I am really keen to invest in an Eva Solo tea pot/cosy.

Toaster Needed Desperately

28 Apr

I came home from work after going on a monster lash up for Cordelia’s leaving drinks. Hideously drunk I decided to make toast in order to soak up some of the booze swimming around my system! This would have been fine if like any normal house, we had a toaster. Unfortunately our toaster broke many months ago, and being a house full of busy boys we’ve never sorted it out.

So on went the griddle pan at maximum heat and in went 2 slices of bread. I sloped off to the sitting room to watch a bit of sky sports news whilst the bread transformed into wonderful steaming toast. 5 hours later as Henry slammed the front door shut at 8.30am I woke up with a blistering head ache and a twitchy nose. Smoke lingered in the kitchen. Confusion swamped me until I realised that I had almost caused one of the biggest fires ever to hit SW11! Gilly’s girlfriend, Polly, had woken up at about 5am and told Gilly that there was a fire. Whereupon Gilly saved the day by putting out a small fire in the kitchen. Thank God I am here to type this out as a vaguely amusing anecdote and the Towers is still standing!

So… we need a toaster. I’m keen for something a bit funky like some of the designs below from NotCot and This Next.
